Inspiration: “Six Degrees of Separation” is a visual representation of the dissociative protective mechanism we all have and uniquely experience, whether we like it or not. Falling apart, feeling separated from ourselves and the world around us, may feel out of our control, but the process of reconstruction and reassembling the Self can be a constant, non-linear but upward, spiral of beauty.
Marie V. Recalde is an artist, writer, translator and California native living abroad for the last eleven years. Her work has been exhibited in galleries from the U.S. to Ukraine, and has been published most recently in The Art of Life, The Hong Kong Review, and Fatal Flaw Literary Magazine.
