Spencer Byham
Spencer Byham-Carson is a writer and artist, born and based in Pittsburgh, PA. Due to a combination of descending from a family of psychologists and having attended therapy for over half his life, he’s hesitant to diagnose himself with anything… but after re-reading that sentence, he might just diagnose himself as being overly therapized—a dangerous thing for an artist. His love for film was born from those “WatchMojo top 10” videos, and soon moved to Criterion Collections, and reading old Pauline Kael reviews – an endless pursuit of a respectable taste. Byham-Carson’s medium is mainly theater, comprising half of the Pittsburgh-based experimental theater company:
NPC: New Product Company.
He’s written a series of plays focused on “physicalizing the digital” including: Leg Lengthening, a play about the online male mental health crisis around height (Byham-Carson is 6’2”), as well as the play Youtube.com/the-family-family examining the child labor and abuse stemming from influencer families, and he is currently working on No Masters No Gods, a play/novel about the life of crisis actors, and the absurdity of staging simulated crisis events.
